The Learning Packages are sent approx. 6 weeks prior to each workshop.  Please send your application forms in as early as possible.

This course provides the theory and clinical components to help registered nurses, midwives and enrolled nurses develop the confidence and competence to provide cervical screening.

Family Planning NSW in conjunction with Cancer Institute NSW Cervical Screening Program are offering funded positions for general practice nurses in Well Women's Screening.

  • Infection Control
  • Pathology follow-up
  • History Taking

This program consists of the following:

  • Distance Learning Package includes all readings and resources provided on a CD in an interactive PDF format (must have Adobe reader) sent approximately 6 weeks prior to workshop
  • Written take-home examination
  • One day workshop - includes discussion and practical sessions using anatomical pelvic and breast models
  • Competency based supervised clinical training (minimum 14 hours)

This FPNSW Well Women's Screening Course has been accreduted by Royal College of Nursing, Australia, according to approved criteria.

Completion attracts 49 RCNA Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) points as part of RCNA's Life Long Learning Program (3LP).

*Eligible participants may be entitled to funded positions by the Cancer Institute NSW Cervical Screening Program with a co-contribution fee of $500. 

Aboriginal Medical Sevice Nurses (AMS) may be entitlted to fully funded positions by the Cancer Institute NSW.

Fees and Cancellation policy

Please note that Family Planning NSW reserves the right to alter course fees without prior notice.

Cancellation up to two weeks prior to training date or from receiving course material will incur a cancellation fee of 10% of the training fee quoted.

Cancellation less than two weeks prior to the training date or from receiving course material will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the training fee quoted.

Cancellation on the day of training will incur a 100% payment of training fee quoted.

If it is necessary for Family Planning NSW to cancel a course, participants will be notified two weeks before the commencement of the course.
