Course description

This course delivers current, evidence based knowledge to doctors who wish to improve their practice, skills and confidence in reproductive and sexual health in the general healthcare setting.

Course content includes:  

  • Update on contraceptive options 
  • Current guidelines for STI screening including diagnosis and management 
  • Unintended pregnancy options 
  • Working with diverse groups including adolescents and people living with disability
  • Updates on the National Cervical Screening Program 
  • Menopause  
  • Other topics in the area of reproductive and sexual health  

Who should attend?

Doctors who want to gain a solid knowledge base in the area of reproductive and sexual health. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are not eligible to enrol and should refer to the Reproductive and Sexual Health in the Australian Context for Doctors (International Medical Graduates) course profile for more information.

Course structure

It is essential participants complete the required activities before attending the workshop to gain critical knowledge and ensure full participation during the course.

Participants have access to the online learning 2 weeks before the workshop.

Pre-workshop activities

Completion of online learning about cervical screening which includes: pre-reading, activities, case studies and videos. This learning will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

Completion of a predisposing activity (RACGP Category 1 requirement) prior to attendance.

Face-to-Face Workshop

2 days

Completion of a reinforcing activity (RACGP Category 1 requirement)

Eligibility / Prerequisite

Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia



Recognition / Accreditation

Participants who attend the whole course will receive a Statement of Attendance.



RACGP Activity Number 96557, this activity is accredited for 40 Category 1 points, as part of the RACGP Quality Improvement & Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program in the 2017-2019 Triennium.
