Package approx $85,354 (base+ LL+super + salary packaging)

Position summary

Position Overview

The Educational Designer will work closely with Family Planning NSW educators to develop and maintain a high quality learning management system (LMS) and contribute to the continuous quality improvement of Family Planning NSW educational programs. They will work closely with the Manager Education and a team of professionals from medical, nursing, and disability and teacher education. 

The Educational Designer will ensure sound adult education teaching and learning strategies are used to guide best practice in the development and use of the educational resources for Family Planning NSW courses and projects. 

Additionally, the Educational Designer will develop and maintain the Moodle environment. 


  • Develop and design engaging, educationally sound e-learning courses
  • Update and improve style and user guide for Moodle
  • Proof read existing course documents and review course administrative areas for suitability, including maintaining a consistent look and feel across courses 
  • Overall management of Moodle processes and procedures
  • Manage online courses and user accounts
  • Proactively prepare Moodle courses in anticipation of upcoming programs in collaboration with subject matter experts 
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships and external contractors to manage the integration of Moodle and other software in blended learning courses
  • Support colleagues, external partners and learners in the effective use of e- learning strategies and tools 
  • Contribute to education projects, including working within timeframe, budget constraints and reporting on progress 
  • Contribute to Family Planning NSW educational continuous quality improvement processes
  • Participate in the evaluation processes according to organisational policy and project brief 

Essential criteria

  • A tertiary qualification and relevant experience in educational design or the broader field of education
  • Extensive successful experience in planning, designing and implementing curriculum for accredited education and training programs
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development and delivery of e-learning courses and resources for delivery online via Moodle, virtual classrooms and webinar
  • Demonstrated experience in Moodle system management
  • Capacity to work cooperatively with professional content experts in the planning, development and implementation of curriculum and educational resources for specific courses and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support educators in the use of e-learning tools and platforms, including Moodle & ZOOM  

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in the development of curriculum
