Course description

Reproductive and Sexual Health Essentials for GPs offers a compact one-day course focusing on best practice in reproductive and sexual health. The course comprehensively covers the basics of reproductive and sexual health presentations in general practice, using interactive case studies as a backbone for each session. The case studies provide the starting point for teaching and group discussion, aided by the exploration of up-to-date clinical evidence and resources.

Content covered may include:

  • adolescent consultation in reproductive and sexual health;
  • management of menopause;
  • updates in cervical screening;
  • individualising the approach to contraceptive options;
  • diagnosis and treatment of STIs;
  • management of common gynaecological presentations
  • unintended pregnancy
  • sexual assault 
  • family violence.

Who should attend?

Doctors who wish to expand their knowledge and clinical skills in a range of topics on reproductive and sexual health. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are not eligible to enrol and should refer to the Reproductive and Sexual Health in the Australian Context for Doctors (International Medical Graduates) course profile for more information.

Course structure

Pre-workshop activities

Completion of pre-disposing activity (RACGP Category 1 requirement) prior to attendance.

Face-to-Face Workshop

1 day and completion of reinforcing activity (RACGP Category 1 requirement).

Eligibility / Prerequisite

  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Adequate professional indemnity insurance is required and is the sole responsibility of the participant.

Recognition / Accreditation

Participants who attend the whole course will receive a Statement of Attendance.
