Lithgow Youth Action Plan Group
Family Planning NSW, with funding from the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, is developing a Youth Action Plan for Lithgow on the topic of sexuality and relationship education for young people in the area.
Family Planning NSW is asking young people aged 16-24 years living in the Lithgow area to be involved in discussions and decision-making about the development of a Youth Action Plan for Lithgow on the topic of sexuality and relationship education. It's completely voluntary and no experience is necessary to be involved. As a thank you for your time and support, you'll receive a certificate of participation for being a part of the group and those who provide meaningful input in multiple discussions will receive a $50 gift card.
The role of a Lithgow Youth Action Plan Group member is an exciting one and will help shape the delivery of sexuality and relationship education for young people in the community in the future. The information here will guide you through what's involved.
What is a Lithgow Youth Action Plan member?
A Lithgow Youth Action Plan member is someone who provides a 'voice' for young people in Lithgow and takes part in decision-making for the Lithgow Youth Action Plan.
The role involves responding to questions and providing input in the Facebook group on issues that relate to sexual health including:
- Availability of sexuality and relationship resources and education
- Accessing sexual health resources in the local community and the challenges in accessing those resources
- Planning an event for young people in Lithgow to promote positive relationships, sexuality and sexual health
What will happen in the group?
A private Facebook group will be established to hold online discussions. Questions will be asked through the private Facebook group throughout the month of June.
You will not be asked to disclose any personal information about your reproductive and sexual health; the Lithgow Youth Action Plan is about your opinions and suggestions for the Youth Action Plan.
It will be relaxed, informal and interactive. You don't need any experience or special knowledge to be involved – everyone’s opinion is valid.
What can I expect of Family Planning NSW?
There are a number of things you should expect as a Lithgow Youth Action Plan member. They include being:
- treated as an equal member of the group
- heard, listened to, and understood by the rest of the group
- supported in a non-judgmental environment where you can share your own opinion
- able to trust that the opinions shared in the room and decisions made will appear anonymously in the Youth Action Plan
