Family Planning NSW is the state's leading provider of reproductive and sexual health training for doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, teachers, disability services and community groups working in the area of reproductive and sexual health.

In addition to the Family Planning NSW ongoing education calendar, our expert presenters are available to provide customised training including short seminars, full and half day workshops and webinars to meet the needs of your organisation. Our staff are also available to provide information sessions to community groups and professional conference presentations.

Clinical

  • Contraception

  • Cervical cancer screening
  • Cervical cancer screening workshop with hands-on practise with pelvic models
  • Common gynaecology presentations
  • Hands-on training in the insertion of Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive methods (LARC) including IUDs and Implanon

Courses and presentations for doctors may attract RACGP and/or ACRRM CPD points.

Courses and presentations for nurses and midwives will contribute to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) requirements for CPD.

Disability

  • Introduction to sexuality and disability (1 day)
  • Sexuality Matters! Part A - Providing rights based sexuality support and information to people with disability (2 day)
  • Sexuality Matters! Part B - Designing and delivering sexuality education programs (1 day)
  • Sexual Health Education for Life: the PDHPE curriculum for students with disability (1 day)

Sexuality Matters! Part A is a nationally recognised unit of competency. Participants who successfully complete all assessment components in this course will be awarded a Statement of Attainment.

Community Services

  • Sexuality & Health Essentials for youth and community workers
  • The Nitty Gritty: Specialised reproductive and sexual health training for youth workers

Teachers

  • Beyond the Birds & Bees - for teachers of primary school students
  • Sexual Health Education: Working It Out - for teachers of students in Years 5 to 8
  • Beyond the Nuts & Bolts - for teachers of secondary school students
  • Sexual Health Education for Life: the PDHPE curriculum for students with disability

Training sessions for teachers may contribute to NESA Registered PD.

Education

  • Education Essentials – a short course to develop skills and knowledge in training, education design and development, suitable for anyone who is required to present, run groups or deliver training in their workplace.
