Overview of Study

This aims of this study were to explore how men feel about themselves and their sexuality, and further our knowledge of masculine sexuality. The results were used to improve services offered to men in the area of sexuality and relationships.

Objectives of study

Heterosexual men aged 18 and over and living in the greater Sydney area were asked to participate in this study.

The men were required to participate in any (or all) of the following:

  • A 6 page questionnaire covering beliefs about male sexuality, satisfaction with relationships and sexual functioning, sexual feelings and behaviour (could be completed on the internet).
  • An individual interview lasting 1-2 hours, exploring their experience of their sexuality across their lifetime.
  • A focus group with up to 10 men discussing issues around sexuality and relationships.

The interviews were conducted at FPA Health's Ashfield office or at the University of Western Sydney, Bankstown Campus.
