LARC Centre of Excellence
The NSW LARC Centre of Excellence at Family Planning Australia is one of eight new centres across the country that will provide people better access to safe, affordable, long-acting reversible contraception or LARCs. The types of contraception that are called LARCs are:
- Contraceptive implant
- IUDs (both hormonal and non-hormonal)
FPA has 100 years of experience providing expert contraceptive care in NSW. We have five clinics and additional regional outreach services where our highly skilled doctors and nurses provide all aspects of IUD and implant care.
We also deliver accredited LARC training and education programs to clinicians across NSW.

LARC appointments at Family Planning Australia are now provided at no cost – you just pay for your choice of contraception.
Appointments are available at one of our five clinics in Newington, Fairfield, Penrith, Newcastle and Dubbo.

For health workers
The LARC Centre of Excellence also provides training and education for experienced clinicians looking to offer this form of contraception, with training brought to towns across rural and regional NSW.
Scholarship applications for IUD and implant insertion and removal training will open in 2027. More information and how to apply will be available on our website www.fpnsw.org.au.
