Social Media Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
This policy governs the use of all Family Planning NSW Family Planning NSW run social media sites. By accessing, viewing, or posting on any Family Planning NSW social media site you agree to these terms.

Social Media sites | ‘Social media site’ or ‘social media channel’ are used interchangeably and refer to any social media presence administered by Family Planning NSW on social media platforms that may include, but are not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Yammer, Pinterest, and Snapchat. |
POLICY DETAILS
Family Planning NSW has a number of pages on social media sites for viewing content and posting comments about Family Planning NSW, reproductive and sexual health and related issues.
By accessing, viewing and/or posting any content related directly or indirectly to Family Planning NSW on any social media site on the internet, you accept, without limitation or qualification, the following terms of use. If you do not agree to the terms of this policy, you may not view or post any content to any Family Planning NSW social media sites on the internet. Your use of Family Planning NSW social media sites is acceptance of this policy and has the same effect as if you had actually physically signed an agreement.
Family Planning NSW reserves the right to update this policy at any time. This policy is not intended as a substitute or intended to supersede any of the social media providers’ policies. Users should consult the social media provider’s policies for further details on acceptable use.
Users shall not:
- use any Family Planning NSW social media site for any purpose in violation of state or national laws,
- post material that will infringe on the intellectual property rights or privacy of others,
- post material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, or embarrassing to another user or any other person or entity,
- post business advertisements
- impersonate another person, organisation or entity, or
- restrict or inhibit any other person from using or enjoying the Family Planning NSW social media channels, or expose Family Planning NSW or any of its customers or suppliers to any liability or detriment of any type.
Post moderation
Family Planning NSW reserves the right to delete posts and comments that contravene this policy; contain potentially harmful or inappropriate advice; are of a personal nature, offensive, abusive; or could be construed as spam or advertisements for commercial products.
Medical Questions
Family Planning NSW will not respond to questions of a medical nature, and will never offer advice or diagnosis via a social media channel. If users have a medical issue, they should consult their regular health care professional(s) or contact the Family Planning NSW Talkline. In cases of medical emergency, users should seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
Family Planning NSW will not be responsible for any action taken by the user in response to information viewed on a social media channel operated by Family Planning NSW.
Commercial use
Users may not make commercial use of any information gained from one of the Family Planning NSW social media channels.
Privacy
Any communication that users post on an Family Planning NSW social media channel is considered to be non-confidential.
All social media channels operated by Family Planning NSW are open for public viewing. Users should not post personal information on these social media channels as this information will not be subject to any Family Planning NSW privacy policy. The user assumes all privacy risk associated with posting on a social media channel.
Acceptable use
Use of a Family Planning NSW social media channel does not create any form of relationship between the user and Family Planning NSW. Furthermore, use of an Family Planning NSW social media channel does not create any relationship between the user and any medical practitioner or other healthcare provider working with Family Planning NSW.
Users are solely responsible for their own communications and the consequences of posting these communications. Family Planning NSW does not assume any responsibility for the consequences of any communications posted on Family Planning NSW social media channels.
By posting any content on any Family Planning NSW social media site you grant Family Planning NSW the irrevocable right to reproduce, distribute, publish, and display such content and the right to create derivative works from your content, edit or modify such content, and use such content for any Family Planning NSW purpose.
You may not provide any content to a social media site that contains and product or service endorsements or any content that may be construed as political lobbying, solicitations or contributions or use the social media site to link to any sites or political candidates or parties or use the social media site to discuss political campaigns.
BREACH OF POLICY
Family Planning NSW may block a user’s access to all Family Planning NSW social media channels where the user has violated any terms within this policy.
Family Planning NSW reserves the right to report any serious breach of this policy, or breach of Australian law, to relevant authorities.
